Top Tips…
How much do I need to spend?
Be realistic with your budget - set an amount per invite that you want to spend. Ask your stationer if they have any advice on how to get what you want for a price you are happy to pay. Remember - this is our business. We have specialist equipment, source quality materials and machinery and have spent years perfecting our trade… You can have all the bells and whistles but be prepared for the costs to increase. We equally we want your work so don’t be scared to ask what you can get for a specific budget!
How many do I need?
When counting how many invitations you need, remember to count per couple/family and not by each person - this is a common mistake. I do, however, always suggest to take around 5 extra of your total number. Better to have too many thank not enough… There are minimum reorder quantities in place and certain invites can be a lot more expensive for small print runs. In your completed stationery package, I will give you an extra copy for your photographer and an extra set for you to keep (free of charge).
Don’t worry, I will be there to walk you through every step of the design process.
What do I need to say?
I can talk you through this and come up with different examples for wording for your invitations. From parents inviting, separated parents to paying for everything yourself, there will be a wording we can find to suit your stationery.
Read your proof files!
We are all human and mistakes can happen… Once you have paid your deposit and received your proof files, it is up to you to check over your proof files and highlight any mistakes or changes that need to be made. Once these have been approved, any amendments or reprints will require to be paid for.
What’s the timescale from start to finish?
If you go for an existing design this will not take as long but on a bespoke design, it can take longer to bring your vision to life!
This can be as little as a week for existing designs but take longer for bespoke… It depends on how quickly you get back to me with the information I need and if there are amendments. Once approved and invoices paid, you should have your stationery after 14 working days! In some cases if they have a lot of hand finished elements this may take a little longer but you will be updated on progress.
What should my RSVP deadline be?
I normally suggest 6-8 weeks prior to your big day, however, check with your caterers/venue on when they require your final numbers/menu. It also helps to have this in advance so you can figure out how many tables you need and potentially decor items.
Don’t forget about postage!
Remember to factor in costs for stamps, invites with embellishments will normally require a large stamp (up to 100g), I have added a handy little guide on the current postage costs below:
1st Class Normal - £1.35 2nd Class Normal - £0.85
1st Class Large Stamp - £2.10 2nd Class Large Stamp - £1.55
Over 100g 1st Class Large Stamp - £2.70 2nd Class Large Stamp - £1.90
What about my on the day stationery?
If you want to keep your stationery cohesive, make sure to book space in the diary for your on the day items. Brides and Grooms often want to carry the theme from their stationery through. You will see that I can offer everything you need for your venue from Welcome Signage through to placecards. Check with your venue on what they offer as part of your package!
